Loughborough Dystopian Campus artwork on wall of Library

See a dystopian Loughborough campus in new artwork on display in the Library

Loughborough Campus Dystopia, a piece by Loughborough graduate James William Grant, is now on display on the ground floor of the Library on the wall opposite the PC clinic.

James was commissioned by LU Arts after they saw his work at the 2022 Art Degree Show.

This piece is a futuristic interpretation of the Loughborough University campus. It was created using a mix of 3D modelling and 2D painting, incorporating a fine art approach with the processes of concept art. The piece combines various points of interest across the University with the original look of the artist’s work. It is finished with a final layer of painting to give the work its distinctive, moody aesthetic.

As you look at the artwork, you may start to spot campus landmarks reimagined or in places you wouldn’t expect.

James said: “I'm very excited with the outcome of the commission. I hope everyone who sees the work enjoys it and notices some of the hallmarks of the University campus and the atmosphere I tried to capture within the work.”
