Notice of automatic re-enrolment to University pension schemes

Every three years, the Pensions Regulator requires employers to enrol colleagues who are not currently pension scheme members into a pension scheme.

The University is scheduled to do this in June 2022.  If you are not currently contributing to a pension scheme, you are likely to be enrolled in June (there are some exceptions to this, please see below).  This means you will have a pension deduction in your June payslip. You can then choose to remain as a member of the scheme or you can opt out.

Exceptions to automatic enrolment:

  • Colleagues aged 21 or under (although you can choose to enrol into a scheme, please follow the link above to find out how)
  • Colleagues who are state pension age or older
  • Colleagues who have opted out of scheme membership in the preceding 12 months (although you can choose to enrol into a scheme, please follow the link above to find out how).
  • Colleagues earning less than £833 per month

Further information on the schemes provided by the University can be found here.
