Estates and Facilities Management staff rally together to support Ukrainian refugees

A staff member based in Estates and Facilities Management has played an instrumental part in a local drive to collect donations for Ukrainian refugees in Poland.

Domestic Services Cleaning Supervisor Aga Lavene has been helping the Loughborough Polish Social Club to collect and deliver supplies and reached out to members of the University community for additional support.

Colleagues from across Catering, Accommodation and Domestic Services came together to contribute items such as clothing, toiletries, baby supplies, medical supplies, torches, bedding as well as monetary donations.

Aga commented: “Thank you for the tremendous donations and offers of help in such a short period of time, the volunteers at the Loughborough Polish Social Club were overwhelmed by the generosity and appreciative of the response. It was an incredible collaboration of all different nationalities and ages pulling together to help such a worthy cause. Moving forward, donations are still greatly needed by the charity, as the situation is ongoing and in greater need of our support.

“I’d like to say a special thanks to Sarah Roberts – without your help, this would not have happened! I’d also like to say thank you to Louise and Claire for their help sorting and packing the donations, as well as Gary and Dave who collected the items from different areas and delivered it all to the warehouse.”

If you would like to help, anyone is welcome to drop off items at the Wisla Supermarket (43 Pinfield Gate, Loughborough, LE11 1BG) or telephone 07553 631561 for more information.
