Parking in the vicinity off campus

Several roads in the residential areas close to campus are covered by parking restrictions.

These restrictions mean unless you are a resident you shouldn’t park your vehicle on these roads. The University’s Ordinance XX111 applies and students parking in these roads may be liable to University disciplinary action.

The roads covered by these rules are marked by ‘no University parking’ signs attached to lamp posts and include:

Area off-campus from Coniston Crescent exit to campus: Ashleigh Drive, Benscliffe Road, Borrowdale Road, Coniston Crescent, Derwent Drive, Fairmount Drive, Highfields Drive, Holywell Drive, Keswick Avenue, Kirkstone Drive, Langdale Avenue, Martindale Close, Mountfields Drive, Oaklands Avenue, Rydal Avenue, Shepherds Close, Spinney Hill Drive, Westmoreland Avenue and Charley Drive.

Areas off-campus alongside the A512: Ashby Crescent, Cotswold Close, New Ashby Road.

The University is committed to being a good neighbour and respectfully asks that all students cooperate and follow the restrictions in place.

Students are also reminded that officers from Leicestershire Police are patrolling in these areas and will be issuing tickets to any cars they find to be causing an obstruction or that don’t comply with the Highway Code. Vehicles are more likely to be removed entirely by Police if parked dangerously or causing obstruction, at the cost of the owner.

For more information about the University’s policies around traffic and parking read the student handbook pages online and visit the Security website.
