Loughborough PR team win two CASE Circle of Excellence Awards

The University’s PR team has won two awards at the prestigious 2022 CASE Circle of Excellence Awards.

In the Digital Campaigns category, Tokyo Games won Gold, and in the Podcasts category, Cuppa with a Scientist secured Silver.

The Tokyo Games campaign aimed to enhance the University’s sporting reputation globally via feature-led written, audio, and video communications during last summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Japan.

Cuppa with a Scientist was created to dispel the myth that all scientists wear white lab coats and continues to strive to show young people how vast science is.

The judging panel were equally impressed with both campaigns:

Tokyo Games

"Loughborough capitalised on institutional strengths to create a timely, creative, and innovative media campaign; it is creative in its approach and the interviews are compelling. The alignment with institutional strengths is key to the success of the campaign, as is the way it taps into the broad appeal of the games. The media content is excellent, and the project overall is well executed with great focus on both owned and earned channels. Other institutions could adopt a similar approach for initiatives that utilise multimedia pitches."

Cuppa with a Scientist

“Aimed at 15- to 18-year-olds eyeing a career in STEM, this charming podcast—hosted by lively PR officer and aspiring biologist Meg Cox—offers an entertaining and accessible look at the work of Loughborough’s science professors. Educational but lighthearted (Meg asks each of her guests to share an object that represents their research), the conversational Cuppa is low-budget but high impact, even catching the eye of National Geographic. We found this Cuppa refreshing.”

The PR team includes Judy Wing, Dane Vincent, Meg Cox, Dan Trussell, and Peter Warzynski.
