Loughborough University celebrates International Women in Engineering Day

The Engineering Schools at the University are marking women in engineering on 23 June with a celebratory event, as well as online content.

International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) is an international awareness campaign created by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES). It aims to raise the profile of women in engineering and highlight the amazing career opportunities available to women and girls in this industry.

This year’s theme is Inventors and Innovators and because often the best ideas come from conversations with colleagues and friends, the Schools are hosting an afternoon tea, 12.30pm-2pm at the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering Outdoor Learning Area (Mumford Way, behind the Sir Frank Gibb building).

All staff and Doctoral Researchers are welcome. Please sign up using the form.

Keep an eye on the Loughborough Engineering Instagram channel throughout the day, as Hannah Eastlake (Head of Media at LUMotorsport), will be giving a tour of their facilities.

There is also a dedicated webpage that will feature student videos around the theme of this year, and a video with staff representatives from each engineering School.
