University guidance on international business travel

International travel is still quite unpredictable, and restrictions can change rapidly. This is a situation which is likely to continue for some time to come. However, the position is more stable than it has been for some time and as such those who have an important reason to travel on business, can now do so, subject to the usual approval processes.

For those travelling, pre-departure and post-return testing can be arranged via the Connect and Protect service.

It should also be noted that when returning to the UK, quarantine arrangements vary according to vaccination status. Those who have chosen not to take up the offer of vaccinations will need to agree working arrangements with their line manager for the quarantine period. If they are unable to work from home during the quarantine period, they may be required to take annual leave to cover the absence from work caused by the quarantine period.

Colleagues with responsibility for others should recognise that some in their teams may not wish to travel currently but may not feel confident to raise such concerns.

Details of the current travel requirements for re-entry to the UK can be found on the Covid website.
