Calling all Schools and Departments: Can you offer a short-term internship to our student community?

The Careers Network would like to hear from Schools and Departments that may be able to offer a short-term internship to a Loughborough student.

The micro-internship scheme is part of the Network’s Talent Match programme, which helps students to secure short-term, high-level work experience.

The project is looking to support Part A and B students to gain vital work experience and develop key skills to support their employability prospects upon graduating, as the graduate recruitment market continues to be extremely competitive each year.

These internal internships are designed to be 40 hours in length and can be spread across a number of weeks, which will be arranged with the student. The Careers Network recommends the internships last between 4-8 weeks to help students manage both work and study.

The Careers Network will provide funding of up to £426 to support the 40 hours of work, which equates to an hourly rate of £10.65 per hour.

The benefits of recruiting a student include:

  • Improving overall student satisfaction

  • Supporting a student to secure a future placement or graduate role

  • Helping them to improve academically (data shows that practical experience is more likely to improve their academic skills as they put their theory into practice)

  • Receiving a fresh outlook and perspective on your work

  • Gaining insight into student thinking which can then be applied to your initiatives.

In addition, the Careers Network will support by advertising the opportunity to students, identifying ideal applicants, and organising interviews if required.

Please note funding is limited and will come on a first come first served basis, so we recommend contacting the Careers Network as soon as possible.
