Phillip Cartwright

We are very sad to inform you that Phillip Cartwright, a Professor based within the University’s School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering, has died.

Professor Cartwright began his role at the University in August 2020 as a Professor of Practice, and helped to raise the national and international profile of the high-level research undertaken at Loughborough.

He had an exceptional career having previously held leadership roles at Laing O’Rouke, Airbus, and Rolls-Royce JV technology company CFMS. Additionally, he was Chief Technology Officer for the Government’s multi-billion-pound intervention in High Value Manufacturing.

Earlier this year, Phillip was named the new Chair of Lontra, an award-winning technology company based in the Midlands delivering ground-breaking air compressor designs.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences go to the friends and family of Phillip and all those at the University who knew him.

If you’re a member of staff and would like some support, the Employee Assistance Programme is available if you need it. The Centre for Faith and Spirituality is also available for those who would like to speak to someone.
