Two people at a piano

Enquiries for music tuition now open

Music tuition is now available for staff and students of all ability levels, including beginners.

Currently, lessons are available for the following instruments:

  • Violin
  • Viola
  • Cello
  • Guitar (electric and acoustic)
  • All brass
  • Saxophone
  • Clarinet
  • Flute
  • Voice
  • Piano*

Tutors will work with you to find a day and time that suits both of you and lessons will usually take place in the music practice rooms located in Martin Hall and the Edward Barnsley Building.

Tuition costs £25 an hour for students and £30 an hour for staff. You will need to sign up for an initial block of 8 hours, after which you can top-up at 2 hours a time. If you are really keen to learn but can’t afford the cost, please get in touch with LU Arts – luarts@lboro.ac.uk.

To simplify the process, an online enquiry form has been added to the LU Arts website. If you are interested, please complete the form here. The appropriate tutor will then contact you and once you have both agreed on arrangements for your tuition you will be sent a booking link. Music tutors have limited spaces and these will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

Please note that unless you are taking piano or singing lessons, you will need to bring your own instrument. If you don’t have one, please flag this on your enquiry form as occasionally tutors can loan instruments.

* we are in the process of appointing a new tutor so piano lessons may be delayed in starting by a few weeks. In the meantime, please still complete the online form and enquiries will be dealt with in the order they are received.
