Join The Conversation - workshop for BAME staff

BAME academics and Doctoral Researchers are invited to attend an online training session with The Conversation blogging platform on Wednesday December 8.

The Conversation is an independent and free source of news and views, sourced from the academic and research community and delivered direct to the public.

It has a team of professional editors who work with university experts to unlock their knowledge, helping to shape it into content that is understandable and engaging for lay audiences. Everything it publishes is free to read and free to share or republish under Creative Commons licensing.

The Conversation has an incredible reach, with 3.5 million unique users to its site each month, and a readership of over 10 million when you include content republished elsewhere. Since becoming a member in 2016, academics and researchers from Loughborough have written more than 250 pieces for the platform, securing over 7 million reads from countries across the world.

The University is committed to improving the representation of its BAME staff, and this dedicated workshop will be the first in a series of media training opportunities organised by the PR team for BAME colleagues. Attendees will learn more about how the platform works, tips on pitching an idea and advice on writing for a lay audience.

If you are interested in attending the workshop, which will run from 10.30am – 12.30pm on Wednesday December 8, please email Judy Wing at J.L.Wing@lboro.ac.uk.
