EU Students and the Settlement Scheme

If you are a current EU student at Loughborough, you need to ensure you have the right to study in the UK from 1 July 2021.

Please take some time to read the information below and follow the steps that are relevant to your status.

Students with Settled or Pre-Settled Status

If you have already obtained Settled or Pre-Settled Status through the EU Settlement Scheme, please email a copy of your passport or National ID card to studentenquiries@lboro.ac.uk.  You will also need to generate a 'share code' (available here) and send this to us so that we can confirm your right to study in the UK after 30 June 2021.

Students who have not yet applied for Settled or Pre-Settled Status

If you entered the UK by 11pm on 31 December 2020 and plan to stay in the UK after 30 June 2021, you should make an application to the EU Settlement Scheme.

In order to continue with your studies after 30 June, you will need to email a copy of your passport to studentenquiries@lboro.ac.uk and generate a 'share code' (available here).

If you have not received a decision on your application by 30 June, please send us evidence of your EUSS application.

Students who are not eligible for Settled or Pre-Settled Status

If you do not qualify for Settled or Pre-Settled Status but are continuing with your studies you will need to obtain immigration permission to enter the UK.

If you are planning to apply for a Student visa, please request a CAS from the Student Office by mailing studentenquiries@lboro.ac.ukPlease ensure that you leave enough time to obtain your visa. Information on the immigration options available can be found on the Student Advice and Support (SASS) webpages and individual advice appointments can be booked with SASS.

Postgraduate students completing their programmes remotely from outside of the UK

If it is your intention to have left the UK by 30 June and complete your programme via remote study, you are not required to take any further action in respect of your immigration status.  Please note that a decision on whether remote study will be permitted in Semester 3 is still to be taken and we advise you to check your University emails regularly for updates.

Students due to attend graduation in July 2021

If you are due to finish your studies before 30 June 2021 but plan to remain in the UK to attend your graduation ceremony in July 2021, you will need to apply to the EU Settlement scheme if eligible.

If you are not in the UK at present or are leaving the UK before 30 June, you may travel back to the UK as a Visitor to attend your graduation ceremony and it is not necessary to advise the University of your circumstances.  Further information regarding graduation ceremonies will be sent in due course.
