In partnership with The Aim Group, the University is providing free accredited training to staff and students in mental health awareness.

The qualification is available to those who are eligible to live in the UK, aged 19+ and are not currently enrolled in any other government-funded qualifications. You can sign up here.

The details of the Mental Health Awareness course are as follows:

  • There is a timeframe of six weeks in which the course must be completed, taking between 15-30 hours in total.
  • It is a nationally accredited, Ofsted-recognised qualification
  • There are no essays, however two workbooks will need to be completed and submitted at the Week 3 and Week 6 stages.
  • The course is online, meaning you will need access to a computer or similar device.
  • Tutor support is available throughout for further guidance.

Upon completion, you will receive a Level 2 qualification in Mental Health Awareness and a certificate will be sent to your home address.

Head of Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity, Veronica Moore commented: “As part of our drive to encourage everyone to share responsibility for good mental health, I would like to promote this free resource in association with the Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity team.

“In the course, you’ll learn about different mental health conditions, the signs and symptoms to look out for, and how to support someone with poor mental health.”
