Happy Mondays: Free online creative workshops for students

Students can get their creative fix every Monday thanks to a partnership between LU Arts and LSU. Happy Mondays is a weekly programme of art-based workshops, currently held online due to Covid restrictions.

Open to all students, the free workshops are for every skill level, from complete beginner to those who have more experience in the craft. As well as learning a new skill, the workshops are a great way to relax and take some time out from your studies and you will come away with a handmade item to keep at the end of the session.

Many of this term’s workshops are being run by current students who are trained and employed by LU Arts as arts workers through the Creative Skill Share scheme. If you are interested in becoming an arts worker in the future, more information is available here.

For students living on campus, packs of materials will be available to collect to help you join in with the craft. You must email luarts@lboro.ac.uk one week in advance of the workshop to request one of these packs and you will be sent details of when and where to collect it from. For other students, details of the materials you will need to take part can be found on the individual event pages (see below).

As well as the creative sessions, there will be a performance night to enjoy; Speech Bubble is a spoken word event, combining open mic slots with performances by professional poets – all streamed live via Zoom. You can express an interest in performing at this event by emailing luarts@lboro.ac.uk.
