Notice of upgrade for Cisco Jabber

From week commencing Monday 22 February, IT Services will be rolling out an upgraded version of Cisco Jabber (12.9.3) on the Staff Managed Desktop Service.

The new version of Cisco Jabber will bring a new user interface. More details can be found here.

As part of the upgrade, any chat history you have will be cleared and will be unrecoverable. If you are using Jabber for chat, we recommend that you switch over to using Microsoft Teams.

For non-managed personal devices, it is critical that you update to the newer desktop application as the current version will cease to work as of 22 March 2021.

ACTION REQUIRED

For the Staff Managed Desktop Service:

The upgrade will be automatically applied. Users connected to the VPN at time of roll out will find that the upgrade will happen sooner, but there is no requirement to be connected for the upgrade to be applied.

For non-managed personal Windows and Mac devices:

Please note that you will either need to be connected to the campus network or via the VPN if working remotely to access the downloads.
