National HIV Testing Week

1-7 February marks National HIV Testing Week, an awareness campaign advocating for people to get regularly tested to reduce the number of people living with HIV undiagnosed or being diagnosed late.

The recent Channel 4 TV series, ‘It’s A Sin’, highlighted how the stigma and shame around sexual health can be detrimental to people’s health and wellbeing.

During this week people are being encouraged to order free at home testing kits which are quick and easy to use.

Local organisation, Trade, is a HIV prevention and sexual health promotion charity that provides support services and advice to the LGBT+ community in Leicestershire and Rutland.

Because they understand taking your own blood sample isn’t always straightforward, they are offering one to one Zoom sessions to talk you through how to use the test. All you need to do is book a slot during the following times:

  • Monday 1 February, 1pm-3pm
  • Wednesday 3 February, 5pm-7pm
  • Friday 5 February, 1pm-3pm

Trade’s services are free and confidential. You can find out more about the support they offer here.
