Student designs product to make shopping easier for parents

Third year design student, Eleni Leontsini, has designed Pram Trolley – a product that plans to tackle the problem of shopping in a supermarket with a pram.

She came up with the idea after watching her mother struggle to carry the shopping in a basket while pushing the pram with her little sister in it.

After surveying other parents, she found that many faced the same problem, and so began to make prototypes which she refined using feedback from parents.

The product is completely adjustable to fit any size pram and fits behind them, leaving enough space for the parent or carer to push it comfortably.

Eleni has worked on this product during her Year in Enterprise –  a scheme that Loughborough offers for those wanting to explore their business ideas as part of their degree. You can take the Year in Enterprise option between your second and third year as an alternative to the traditional placement year or study abroad.

Eleni said: “Being part of the Year in Enterprise programme has been an exciting opportunity. I have been able to clarify my business direction and feel a lot more confident because of it.

“I am grateful for the support provided by both staff and students involved in the scheme as there are always people willing to help when there are roadblocks along the way.”

Eleni is now raising funds to produce Pram Trolley. More details are available here.
