LU Arts promo - people performing

Applications for LU Arts’ Music and Arts Scholarships are now open

Are you a talented musician, writer, performer, film maker or artist?

Do you want help to realise your potential and receive a cash prize and a support package? Then the Music and Arts Scholarships could be just the thing for you.

Every year LU Arts awards up to nine scholarships to students who demonstrate an ability, passion, commitment and potential in any art form. They encourage involvement in the arts outside of your studies and are not related to your degree.

Art forms may include (but are not limited to):

  • Any genre of music
  • Creative writing
  • Poetry
  • Photography
  • Film
  • Animation
  • Any genre of dance
  • Performing arts
  • Textiles
  • Visual arts and crafts

Each scholarship winner receives a £100 cash prize and a tailored package of support worth up to £500. This support could be in the form of one-to-one tuition, mentoring, masterclasses, training or attending relevant events to help develop your skills and knowledge.

There are also opportunities for scholars to showcase their talents by presenting or performing work during the year.

The scholarships are open to all current Loughborough University students (undergraduate and postgraduate) from the East Midlands and London campus.

LU Arts is committed to inclusivity and representing the student community we serve. They welcome applications from students of all backgrounds.

Deadline for 2021/22 applications: midday on Monday 25 October 2021.

You may only apply for one scholarship per year. Previous winners cannot apply for the same scholarship again.

More information on the scholarships and the application forms can be found here.

There will also be a Scholarship Surgery held via Zoom on Thursday 21 October, 12-2pm. This online drop-in session gives you a chance to ask any questions you might have. There's no need to book and you don't need to join the whole meeting, just login when you can during the two hours. The login details for the Zoom meeting will be posted on the LU Arts website closer to the time.

Accessibility

We want our scholarships to be accessible to all students. To support this, we will accept applications in different formats eg audio, large print, if this is more appropriate for you. If you would like to discuss any accessibility issues in advance of applying or need further support, then please email luarts@lboro.ac.uk or call 01509 222948.
