Find out more about Academic Language Support at Loughborough

Academic Language Support is here to help you develop your academic skills during your time at Loughborough.

There are workshops on offer for undergraduate students on different aspects of academic writing including:

  • Coherence in writing
  • Using supporting evidence
  • Summarising and paraphrasing

You can find on-demand resources on the Study Skills Learn module.

There are also a series of workshops specifically designed for Doctoral Researchers that focus on the language and communication characteristics of advanced academic writing.

All international students have been automatically enrolled onto the new English Language Support Learn module. This module provides guidance on writing, citation, speaking, vocabulary and grammar within an academic context.

Academic language support is available here for all students, undergraduate or postgraduate, whether you speak English as your first or second language.

There is also information to help improve your academic writing on Learn. The topics covered include:

  • Essay and report writing
  • Advice about literature reviews and dissertations
  • Structure and proofreading
  • How to organise your time
