Treat your loved ones to a sweet treat this Christmas with Loughborough Gold honey

Whether you’re looking for a scrumptious spread to put on your toast this winter, or you’re still on the hunt to buy a unique Christmas gift this year, save the date for the University’s Loughborough Gold honey sale on Friday 4 December.

Loughborough Gold is an exclusive and luxurious product made by the University’s very own honey bees, who were welcomed to the Loughborough campus in 2013 in a bid to support the declining population whilst increasing pollination and biodiversity.

Our apiary volunteers have worked hard throughout the year to look after the bees and to harvest the honey over the summer months ready to be jarred and sold to staff and students.

For the first time, the honey will be available to purchase on the Creative and Print Services’ online shop. If you are a first-time user of the shop, you are required to register an account before making a purchase.

The sale will launch on Friday 4 December – but be quick, as there is only a limited number of jars available!

The prices and sizes available are as follows:

  • 1lb jar - £8
  • ¾lb jar - £6
  • ½lb jar - £4
  • ½lb jar (set) - £4

The money collected from the sale will be reimbursed into looking after our 10 colonies of honey bees, which can reach numbers of up to half a million bees in the peak of summer.

Please note there is a limit of two jars per person. Customers will be contacted after making their purchase to let them know their order is ready to be collected from the Creative and Print Services Reception, located in the Herbert Manzoni Building. If you have any queries regarding collection, please email

Whilst you’re visiting the online store, be sure to browse the new Christmas Shop: choose from beautifully illustrated wrapping paper and gift tags, as well as personalised Christmas card options – all designed with a sprinkle of the small yet memorable quirks that are part of life at Loughborough University (and yes, that does mean a special appearance from Charlie the cat!).
