Acting Student Enterprise Manager Dr Sophie-Louise Hyde and LSU’s Head of Enterprise and Development Emma Bishop were nominated for the award by students at the University as a thank you for all the hard work and commitments they had made to support students over the last year. They praised Emma and Sophie for being ‘dedicated to imparting an entrepreneurial education to as many students on campus as possible’.

Sophie works within Loughborough Enterprise Network overseeing the activity across both campuses, supporting current students and graduates to develop their enterprising ideas into innovative businesses or becoming freelancers.

Emma in based in the Enterprise Office at the Students’ Union and works closely with the Enterprise Chair to support students with free advice and in particular student groups such as Enactus, CodeLab, Green Pea and Creative Exchange.

Speaking about the accolade, Sophie and Emma said: “We were thrilled to be awarded the University Advisor of the Year award, though a little surprised by it too! It’s been great to work with our Enactus team this year as we’ve seen them grow, both as individuals and collectively.

“We often play the role of ‘critical friend’ and the current circumstances have not made things easy for any team, but we’re extremely proud of how Enactus Loughborough rose to their challenges and listened to advice to develop their projects based on this. Our new committee are now in place and ready for the next 12 months.”
