Fire alarm testing

Until further notice the Health and Safety Service will be conducting the routine fire alarm tests for most buildings to ensure that the systems continue to function properly.

The following buildings will continue to test their Fire Alarms on a weekly basis as normal:

  • All Residential Buildings including Hotels
  • Campus Services Dining Halls
  • SDC Sports Complexes
  • The Pilkington Library
  • The Medical Centre
  • FM Yard Buildings
  • Holywell Park Buildings (i.e. Charnwood/Garendon, Holywell Building Sir Dennis Rooke Building, Utilities Compound, Energy Centre, Unsteady Fluids, NCATT (B)
  • NCATT (A)
  • Sir David Davies Building (W Building)
  • StemLab

For all other buildings starting on Wednesday 25 March between 0900 – 1600 the fire alarm test will occur every two weeks on a Wednesday.  There will be no scheduled time for the test, but the  test should take no longer than 10 - 15 seconds.

Should the fire alarm sounders continue to sound, you MUST exit the building and assemble at the Fire Assembly Point for the allocated building.

Please be advised that all of our fire alarm systems are connected to the University's Security Control Room and both actual fire alarm activations and faults are investigated immediately by Security staff unless otherwise advised by the building fire marshals.

If you require any further information please contact Richard Gunn  R.Gunn@lboro.ac.uk or Rod Harrison R.M.Harrison@lboro.ac.uk.
