The current lead, Professor John Downey will be stepping down and Dr Nyhagen will take on the responsibility of leading the MGS DTP – a six year investment into PhD studentships and training in the social sciences, which has five pathways at Loughborough namely Communication and Media, Education (Mathematics Education Centre), Management & Business Studies and Finance, Social Policy and Sport & Exercise Science.
Established in 2017, the MGS is a partnership between Loughborough, Warwick, Birmingham, Nottingham, Aston and Leicester universities.
Professor Elizabeth Peel, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Doctoral College) said: “I am delighted that Dr Line Nyhagen will be taking over as institutional lead for the Midlands Graduate School. I look forward to Loughborough’s involvement in the DTP going from strength to strength.”
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Steve Rothberg added: “I worked with Line when she led her School’s successful submission for an Athena SWAN award so I’m confident that she’ll do a fantastic job.”
