Staff members invited to Change Academy 2020

This year the University will be hosting its seventh Change Academy, which will focus on the need to improve processes and how we as an institution undertake process reviews.

The objectives of Change Academy 2020 are to:

  • Understand why improving processes is part of everyone’s job
  • Make colleagues aware of the process improvement method we use at Loughborough
  • Support colleagues in using the method to improve processes in their area
  • Enable them to make further improvements and support colleagues in doing so

The Change Academy will launch with a session led by Chief Operating Officer Richard Taylor, entitled Improving processes is a part of everyone’s job.

Richard will promote his view that reviewing and improving processes is a crucial part of all staff members’ roles, and he will be encouraging people to do this and for managers to provide support to colleagues to undertake reviews.

Taking place on Tuesday 28 January from 10am-11.30am, the session will also include contributions from Angela Truby in Student Services and Sarah Van-Zoelen in Occupational Health who will be discussing how the Change team has supported them to review processes. Ffyona Baker from Human Resources and Organisational Development will also explain how process reviews fit in the wider organisational development agenda. Staff members can sign up for the session here.

Senior professional service managers across the University have been asked to identify colleagues who will work on local processes during the Change Academy period. These colleagues should sign up to two training sessions taking place across February and March.

The sessions are being held on the following dates:

  • Session 1: Monday 3 February (AM), Thursday 13 February (PM) or Friday 14 February (AM)
  • Session 2: Monday 24 February (AM), Wednesday 4 March (PM) or Friday 6 March (AM)

There will also be additional drop-in sessions with the Change team to support colleagues who are working on projects. Participants must have the support of their line manager and agreement of a process review they wish to undertake and can book their place online.

Director of Change Projects, Dr Anne Mumford said: “The events scheduled for this year will give colleagues a good understanding of why it is important that we review our processes and will support people through training and drop-in sessions to undertake improvements.

“It gives a great opportunity for people to work with colleagues in the Change team as well as colleagues in your area to make improvements in a focused period of time.”
