Loughborough goes #Red4WED

The fountain located outside of the Hazlerigg and Rutland buildings will be lit up red to raise awareness of World Encephalitis Day.

On Friday 21 and Saturday 22 February, the University’s fountain will go #Red4WED. This follows Loughborough’s involvement in the BrainWalk, in the run-up to World Encephalitis Day, which staff and students have been participating in. The BrainWalk, run by the Encephalitis Society, runs up to World Encephalitis Day on 22nd February and is part of a series of activities that aim to raise awareness of and understanding about encephalitis.

Currently, Team Lboro from the University has amassed the second-highest number of steps on the leader board. There’s still time to take part though and help us push for the top. Find out how to sign up through our earlier internal news story.

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain caused by an infection invading the brain or through the immune system attacking the brain in error. Earlier in the month staff shared their personal stories about encephalitis and why raising awareness is so important.
