Help Team Lboro step towards the number one spot

With just one week to go in the BrainWalk challenge, Team Lboro is still second in the international leader board, but there’s still time to take part, or encourage others to sign up, to help us push for the top!

The BrainWalk, run by the Encephalitis Society, runs up to World Encephalitis Day on 22nd February and is part of a series of activities that aim to raise awareness of and understanding about encephalitis.

To take part you’ll need to download the BrainWalk app from Google Play or the Apple App store. Register your details and sync with your FitBit or your phone’s health data using the drop down menu in the app. Select to join an existing team, enter Team Lboro into the search and then when promoted enter the password Lboro2020.

Encourage your family, your friends and your work colleagues to get involved!

Make sure your steps are registering – the Brainwalk app should be linked to the health app on your phone or your Fitbit.  If you’re having difficulties doing this, contact the Encephalitis Society and they can help to sort it – and if you send screen shots from your health app you can claim your steps from the last week.

You can also play the games on the app to earn extra ‘steps’.

We’re keen to encourage as many people as possible to join Team Lboro so we can close the gap on the current leaders. As an added incentive, next week we’ll be randomly selecting people from our Team to receive small thank you gifts including T-shirts, wristbands, pens, cookbooks and Aliki CDs.

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain. It is caused either by an infection invading the brain or through the immune system attacking the brain in error. Anyone at any age can get encephalitis. There are up to 6,000 cases in the UK each year and potentially hundreds of thousands worldwide.
