Introducing the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion blog

We are pleased to launch a new University blog which has been created to provide a platform for staff and students to share their personal reflections on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).

The first of our five People Priorities is to develop a diverse, respectful and inclusive culture at the University. Only through dialogue and by educating ourselves can we then truly establish collective responsibility to promote equality, celebrate diversity and to challenge unfairness and discrimination.

A key part of delivering on this ambition is to firstly recognise, accept and understand institutional racism and racial inequality. Therefore, a series of posts have been published on the blog focusing on race and racism at Loughborough, within higher education and across society more widely.

This has been made possible thanks to our contributors so far:

  • Richard Taylor – Chief Operating Officer and Co-Chair of the University’s Race Equality Action Group
  • Miranda Routledge – Director of Planning and part of the University’s Academic Leadership Team
  • Dr David Roberts – Senior Lecturer of International Relations within the School of Business and Economics
  • Sophie Kanabar – Former Employer Engagement Associate within the Careers Network

We will be developing the blog as a long-term initiative and will be enhancing how EDI activities are presented on the website more widely, in order to reflect the many different groups that form our University community so everyone has the opportunity to tell their stories and share their voices.

If you would be interested in contributing to the EDI blog and would like to find out more, please email pr@lboro.ac.uk using the subject line ‘EDI Blog’.
