Community Fund recipients with the Vice-Chancellor

The University donates over £4,000 to local charities

Nine local charities have received funding for projects as part of the Spring Open Fund run by the University’s Community Donations Fund.

The charities and their projects are as follows:

The purchase of a lawnmower for their THYME project

Thorpe Acre Community Association

The replacement of posts on their nature and arts trail

Barrow Upon Soar pre-school group

The creation of a nature inspired book corner

Shepshed Wellbeing Café

The purchase of craft activities for the group

SRK Community Project

The purchase of tables and chairs for their pre-school group

Jon Walker, Chair of the University’s Donations Fund added: “The University is always pleased to be able to provide support for local community groups that play such an important role. We especially hope that these grants will help enable them to be part of the process of recovery after the worst impacts of the Covid-19 emergency have passed.”
