Enterprise award recipients

Loughborough University has been shortlisted for three Times Higher Education (THE) awards, it was announced today (5th September).

The annual honours, dubbed the ‘Oscars’ of the higher education sector, celebrate outstanding examples of best practice across a range of activity.

Loughborough has been shortlisted in the Outstanding Entrepreneurial University, Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team and Excellence in Registry Services categories.

The Outstanding Entrepreneurial University award recognises the institution that has developed and delivered an exceptional approach to embedding entrepreneurship within its culture and programmes, and which can demonstrate a significant impact at regional, national or international level. Loughborough has been shortlisted for the breadth and impact of its enterprise ecosystem that benefits academics, students, graduates, alumni and global partners.

The Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team award recognises initiatives that have delivered quantifiable changes in public perception of the university or reshaped behaviour within the organisation. Loughborough’s submission focuses on the university’s integrated and collaborative approach to marketing and communications, centred around people, pride and passion, that has delivered impact, innovation and income for the institution.

The Excellence in Registry Services award recognises outstanding work across a range of areas including student admissions, quality assurance, educational collaboration and research administration. Loughborough’s shortlisted submission focuses on an institutional-wide project that transformed the processes and approach to the postgraduate research student lifecycle, bringing an enhanced experience for both students and staff.

THE editor John Gill said: “The THE Awards hold a place in the hearts of many in UK higher education and have now been a fixture in the calendar for well over a decade. This year we decided to incorporate the complementary strengths of our THE Leadership and Management Awards, so that the range of categories better reflects the reality of how universities operate today, and the interwoven nature of so much of what they do. This will be the biggest celebration of higher education that we have ever hosted.

“I am delighted to say that the ‘Oscars of higher education’ go from strength to strength. With 23 categories this year, we’re also showcasing more exceptional stories than ever before, and it’s a real honour for us to shine a spotlight on all those who have made it as far as these shortlists – their stories deserve much wider circulation."

The Times Higher Education awards ceremony will be held on 28th November 2019 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, with more than 1,000 guests expected to attend, including politicians, senior figures within the higher education sector and university staff from around the UK.
