University partners with external organisations to provide specialist support to students

Loughborough University offers a range of support for students, including counselling, advice, spiritual services and disability support.

It is also proud to work closely with a group of external partners who specialise in different areas to enhance the help available to students.

The partner organisations are as follows:

  • First Steps – a charity for people affected by disordered eating
  • Living Without Abuse - The Amber Project – providing support and advice to those experiencing or have been subject to sexual violence
  • Lisa Vine – a confidential and safe drop-in, support and advice service for transgender and non-binary people, including students who are questioning their gender identity
  • Turning Point – a substance misuse service commencing in November to provide support and treatment to any students who are affected by drugs and alcohol
  • Victim First – an independent service providing support to those who have witnessed or are a victim of a crime

More information, including a breakdown of what each of these services can offer and how to book an appointment, is available on the dedicated website.

Head of Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Veronica Moore commented: “Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity is now working in collaboration with a number of external partner agencies this year, all of whom supplement the existing package of support we provide by adding expert knowledge and skills in areas of growing concern for students.

“These excellent services are already being well used by Loughborough students. They deliver confidential support in a sensitive, non-judgemental way and by working together, we are better able to provide timely, specialist support and advice to students right here on campus and demonstrate that we take these issues seriously and are committed to making a difference.”
