Students: Fund your Loughborough experience with our new scheme

The University is pleased to announce that it has launched a brand-new crowdfunding scheme to support student projects which require funding and will ultimately enhance the student experience at Loughborough.

As part of the new initiative, students can not only fundraise but also access match funding opportunities (up to 50%), connect with alumni, receive advice and use social media to spread the word and increase support further.

The overall aim is to nurture talent, support student innovation and creative spirits, whilst strengthening the campus community and student body.

Eight student projects can be promoted on the dedicated platform at a time, and student groups can bid for funding between £500-£5,000 for their clubs, societies or any other bespoke student projects.

If you think your project can make an impact, below is a set of criteria for those interested in applying:

  • Projects must be submitted on behalf of students at Loughborough University
  • Project owners should be able to demonstrate how their project will enhance the Loughborough experience
  • Project owners should be clear on what the aims and outcomes of the project will be
  • Project owners should be able to provide a clear breakdown of costs to justify the project total
  • Projects should outline realistic timetables and outline how project owners will endeavour to make their projects successful.

In addition, please remember the following to help your project stand out from the crowd:

  • Projects with a clear plan and passionate advocates are more likely to be selected, so be sure to show it in your application
  • We may not be able to support all applications if we feel they will be difficult to fundraise for or won’t reach their target
  • Match funding is discretionary and based on project specifics and will be discussed if projects are selected to feature on the platform

The Music Society, Table Top Games Society and ‘Business in a Box’ project have all already started fundraising for their initiatives and donations. Find out more about them and donate through the dedicated website.

Students can now fill out the application form which is available online here
