Loughborough University and Loughborough Students’ Union support #makethepromise campaign

The University and Loughborough Students’ Union (LSU) are committed to supporting anyone affected by sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking; while highlighting that educating the community is the first step towards ending violence.

From today (Monday 25 November) until 10 December, Loughborough University and LSU will be raising awareness of the support available and types of violence that women and girls are subject to as part of a new campaign.

Associate Chief Operating Officer and Director of Student Services, Manuel Alonso commented: “Here at Loughborough, we’re committed to creating an environment that’s free from male violence against women.

“There are lots of angles to this, from supporting people who have experienced violence, addressing and dealing with perpetrators and as in the case of #makethepromise, campaigning to raise awareness around these issues.

“That’s why from the 25th November onwards, you’ll see a range of different activities and events that we’re running together with the Students’ Union.”

A dedicated webpage is available with more information on the University’s disciplinary policy, how Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity can support you, as well as videos, factsheets and PDF guides covering the topics of stalking, domestic violence and sexual violence.

On Tuesday 26 November Dr Olivia Smith will present a lecture about surviving sexual violence, which will take place on campus.
