LSUTV win at the National Student Television Awards

The student-run television network, LSUTV, won two awards and was shortlisted for six other categories at the NaSTA Awards held in Nottingham on 26-28 April.

LSUTV won the Best Animation category for their submission, ‘Dangerously Cheesy’, which follows the journey of a mouse trying to gather food for its family. It was written and produced by student, David Owens.

Loughborough also won Best Live Broadcast for their coverage of ‘Match Report’s Live Fight Night’ last year. One of the presenters, Joshua Gray was also shortlisted for Best On-Screen Talent and ‘The Soapbox’, another show he presents on, was shortlisted for Best Documentary and Factual.

Also shortlisted were ‘Stuff in Luff’ for Best Comedy, ‘CLASS’ (Cooking Like A Skint Student) for Light Entertainment, student Jack Smith for Dramatic Performance and ‘The Sing Off’ for Best Title Sequence.

Station Manager, Tim McGovern, said: “LSUTV has had an incredible year in terms of the content we’ve produced and put out to all of our followers.

“We’ve really challenged ourselves to become better with bigger live shows and more regular updates on what we’re creating. A lot of us start with no prior experience to the world of TV production so to learn along the way and get to this point is a tremendous achievement.”

LSU Media Executive Officer, Jasmine Jefferies added: “I couldn't be prouder of the LSUTV committee and all their volunteers. Fantastic effort from everyone involved, they've certainly done themselves proud.”

All LSUTV submissions for the NaSTAs are available here.
