Help raise awareness of climate change and learn new skills as part of LU Arts’ latest series of workshops

LU Arts is delighted to announce a new and upcoming series of workshops around digital storytelling which is open for staff, students and members of the community to attend.

Digital storytelling is a short form of digital media production that allows everyday people to share aspects of their story.

Led by Dr Antonia Liguori from the School of Arts, English and Drama, attendees will follow a creative process where they will be able to develop a story and create a film that will focus on what society can do to address climate change.

Those who sign up to the workshops will work together as a group to make and share the digital stories, and will learn how to create storyboards, write a script and edit a video with guidance by trained facilitators.

More information about the sessions can be found below:

  • Session 1 – Introduction, storytelling and storyboards

Friday 17 May, 4pm-6pm, Room 0.07 in Martin Hall

  • Session 2 – Production and video editing

Monday 3 June, 2pm-6pm, Room 630.32 (Digital Lab) in the Edward Barnsley Building

  • Session 3 – Discussion and presentation

Thursday 6 June, 12pm-2pm, Stanley Evernden Theatre in Martin Hall

The final video will be showcased to the public with an accompanying discussion as part of the Loughborough University Arts Festival.

Dr Liguori is involved in numerous international research projects. These include developing tools and methods fostering innovation in education; exploring the role of storytelling in today’s digital world, and investigating ways of using digital storytelling as a participatory method for inter-disciplinary research.

The workshops are free and all materials and equipment will be provided; attendees must be able to attend every session. Booking is available online here.
