REMINDER: Vacancy on Council from 1 August for a member of non-academic staff
There is one vacancy available on Council for a member of non-academic staff at the University from 2019/20 onwards (vice Jane McCormack). The term of office is three years starting from 1 August 2019.
Further details of the expectations of the role can be found on the website.
Membership of Council presents the opportunity to become involved in the University’s future planning and development at a high level and to gain experience of good governance practice in higher education.
Council usually meets four times a year and members are expected to attend the majority of meetings. An induction session for new members will be delivered in October and an away day is also planned.
Questions or queries about the role may be addressed to Dr Jennifer Nutkins, Academic Registrar and Head of Governance.
Only non-academic staff members of the University as defined by the current electoral roll are eligible for nomination, or may make or second a nomination (please note that retiring members are not eligible for immediate re-election).
Nominations require a proposer and seconder and may be emailed to Rob Pearson, Senior Assistant Registrar, Programme Quality and Teaching Partnerships Office, Academic Registry (with copy to Trish Swift) by 5pm on 22 March 2019. Please note that the nominee is required to confirm that they are in agreement with the nomination.
Alternatively, a nomination form is available online for printing.
Candidates are invited to submit a brief personal statement, available online, of up to 1800 characters, addressing how they would address the duties and responsibilities, which will be made available to voters in the event of a ballot. A committee election statement template is available online.
The University actively welcomes nominations which reflect the diversity of the University, encompassing ethnicity, religion, gender, class, sexual orientation, age, disability or special need.
