Upcoming academic engagement events with the Institute of Advanced Studies

The Institute of Advanced Studies has two upcoming academic engagement events linked to their 2019/20 Sound and Water themes.

Academics whose research engages with sound or water, or those who might be interested in considering either as a future research area, are welcome to attend the lunchtime drop-in sessions.

The Sound session will take place this Thursday (4 July) from 10:30am-2pm. This includes an introduction to the theme, opportunities for discussion over lunch and a workshop focusing on perspectives from engineering, social science, design and art. The second session for the Water theme will be held next Wednesday (10 July) from 12pm-2pm. This will comprise of several areas of activity, including natural processes and change, extreme events and natural hazards, health and human performance, and science and technology.
