Staff and students: Don’t forget to submit your application for the 2020 Teaching Awards

There’s still time to submit your application for the 2020 Teaching Innovation Awards (TIAs) and the Research-informed Teaching Awards (RiTAs).

The TIAs support innovation which positively impacts students’ academic experience and enhances the teaching quality at Loughborough University.

As new developments appear across both campuses, there may be initiatives you wish to research or implement to support staff or students to advance teaching environments, uses of technology or approaches to learning. These can be short, medium or long-term projects.

The four categories you can enter in are as follows:

  • Teaching Innovation Award
  • Inclusivity in Teaching
  • STEMLab
  • Student Education Research Placements

Funds of up to £3,000 can be provided per project, although this can be increased to £5,000 in exceptional cases. More information can be found here and the deadline is 31 January 2020.

The RiTAs seek to recognise and celebrate academic staff who have made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of research-informed teaching with a direct impact on the student learning experience at the University.

The awards are designed to foster pedagogic research across the institution and to reaffirm the University’s commitment to recognising staff who demonstrate high levels of achievement in both research and teaching.

Please note applications must be sent to your School’s Operations Manager or Associate Dean of Teaching first by Wednesday 8 January. Once this has been approved, your application must reach the Centre for Academic Practice by 31 January.

If you are interested in applying for the TIAs or the RiTAs, please contact Samantha Chester or Sarah Bamforth from the Centre of Academic Practice.

The winners will be celebrated at the University’s annual Learning and Teaching Conference which takes place on 1 July 2020.
