Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness Week (1-7 December)

Crohn’s disease and Colitis are invisible illnesses. A person may look okay on the outside, but they could be struggling daily with symptoms such as physical pain, extreme fatigue and the urgency to use the toilet.

More than 300,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of, and the real number could be almost double that. Because of the stigma and misunderstanding surrounding these diseases, thousands of people are suffering in silence.

It takes courage to talk about these conditions, and that’s why the University is raising awareness and highlighting these conditions during the national awareness week.

To find out more about how you can help to raise awareness and support other staff affected by these conditions, visit the Crohn’s and Colitis UK website here.

If you would like to get involved with the Staff Inclusivity Group – which was established for those who have or are affected by physical or invisible disabilities –  please contact Emma Nadin.
