Staff at Swim England to support charities with 150km swim

This Thursday (22 August), more than 80 members of Swim England – based at Loughborough University’s Science and Enterprise Park – will swim a combined 6,000 lengths of the University’s swimming pool, equating to over 150 kilometres.

The event is not only being held to mark the organisation’s 150th anniversary, but also to raise funds for young survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire to attend a Swim Safe session – a water safety programme run by Swim England and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), which helps children be safe in open water.

On the same day, the organisation will also be encouraging people to register as a potential blood stem cell donor to find a match for Finn Hill, a close relative of a member of Swim England.

Anyone aged between 17-55 and in general health is welcome to take a simple mouth swab at the SportPark Café from 10am-4pm.
