New Research Repository coming soon

The University Library, in partnership with IT Services and the Research Office, is pleased to announce the prospective launch of the new University Research Repository.

The new Repository will combine the University’s Institutional Repository and Data Repository on one platform, Figshare, making it easier to search and navigate.

The existing Institutional Repository hosts over 36,000 items, including journal papers, chapters, conference papers, theses and audio-visual material.

It archives all articles and publications submitted by academics and researchers at Loughborough, making them public to an external audience. Similarly, the Data Repository archives and makes available a variety of research data produced by the University

The new Research Repository features improved visual design and functionality which will enhance the preservation and long-term accessibility of research outputs and integrates better with LUPIN; providing enhanced support for the University’s REF submission.

The process for a researcher to submit their publications or data will not be altered. All publications will still be submitted as usual via the LUPIN system and data will still be deposited directly into figshare.

Director of Library Services, Emma Walton, commented: “Creating the Research Repository provides a great opportunity to promote and preserve all of Loughborough’s research outputs on a single platform.

“The new system enables access to a comprehensive range of research outputs such as articles, data and e-theses, promoting research visibility and discoverability across the disciplines. Updating this core, library-managed, University service enables enhanced integration with other institutional systems, improves partnership working to support the REF and further increases the international reach of Loughborough’s research.”
