Jam-packed season of NT Live screenings

Student-led cinema Flix and LU Arts have joined forces to bring a fantastic programme of screenings from NT Live to Loughborough this autumn.

All will be shown in the Cope Auditorium on campus with free car parking available. Tickets are available online for £10 or £5 for students (proof of ID must be shown). There will also be a limited number of tickets on the door.

Fleabag will be kicking off the season of screenings. This is the one-woman show written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Killing Eve, Fleabag) that inspired the hit BBC television series. The New Yorker described it as a ‘legitimately hilarious show’. The recommended age is 15+ and it will be shown on Thursday 12 September.

As part of the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of NT Live, there will be an encore screening of the popular 2011 production of One Man, Two Guvnors starring James Corden on Thursday 3 October. Based on the story, The Servant of Two Masters, this show follows a man working for two East End gangsters.

A Shakespeare classic is also in this star-studded lineup. Featuring Gwendoline Christie of Game of Thrones fame, Nicholas Hytner’s immersive production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is currently running at The Bridge Theatre in London and will be screened on Thursday 17 October. The Observer has given it five stars but said that ‘five stars might not be enough’.

Olivier Award winners Lindsay Duncan (Birdman, About Time) and Alex Jennings (The Lady in the Van, The Queen) play husband and wife in Simon Woods’ brand new play Hansard on 7 November. The play follows a day in the life of a Tory politician and the unravelling of his marriage.

The final instalment in the autumn programme sees Andrew Scott, known for his roles in BBC TV’s Fleabag and Sherlock, in a production of Noël Coward’s provocative comedy, Present Laughter. Following the character Gary Essendine on his last few days before an international tour, we see his crazy lifestyle begin to catch up with him. Present Laughter will be shown on Thursday 28 November.

Details of all screenings can be found on the Flix and LU Arts websites.

Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to see great quality theatre on your doorstep.
