Loughborough University’s Autumn Graduate and Placement Fair 2018.

31 Oct 2018

Careers Fair enjoyed by more than 6,000 students and hundreds of internationally-respected organisations

More than 6,000 students attended Loughborough University’s Autumn Graduate and Placement Fair and met with representatives from world-renowned organisations such as Samsung, Mercedes and British Airways.

The two-day event is one of the largest campus careers fairs in the UK and regularly draws some of the biggest names in business from sectors including marketing, finance and banking, retail, and engineering.

Managed by Loughborough’s Careers Network, the annual Fair, which took place 22-23 October this year, is a good way for students to meet employers and explore a range of career options in an informal environment.

It also gives them a chance to talk directly to recruiters – who are often Loughborough graduates themselves – and hear about their career stories and insider advice.

Household names that attended this year’s event include HSBC, Adidas, ASOS, Arcadia, Siemens, Aldi and Muller Dairy.

The event, which was sponsored by ATOS, also welcomed JCB, Lidl, Proctor & Gamble, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Enterprise Rent a Car – which says the Fair is “one of the best” the company attends.

Commenting on this year’s success, Loughborough’s Pro Vice-Chancellor for Teaching Professor Rachel Thomson said: “The students and staff I spoke to were very positive about their conversations and it was great to see so many students enthusiastic about their future careers.”

Head of Careers, Employability and Employer Engagement at Loughborough University, Helen Smith, added: “Once again the University’s Autumn Careers Fair provided students with unparalleled access to over 225 employers with placement and graduate roles to fill.

“Employer feedback has been fantastic, reporting that our students were extremely well prepared and a pleasure to meet and talk to.

“Employers welcome these on-campus events and presentations as a way of making connections with some of their future employees, so by attending the Fair many students will have already helped to secure their future careers!”
