  • Infrastructure
  • Outreach/ Community
  • Technical team
  • Newcomer
  • Lifetime Achievement

Last year, Loughborough University won awards for Best Technical Team (Textiles Technical Team) and Best Outreach (Callum Crane).

Speaking about the Papin Prizes, Director of Midlands Innovation, Dr Helen Turner said: “I would encourage staff and students from across the sector to nominate their technical colleagues for the 2019 Papin Prizes.

“The prizes are designed to recognise the excellent work of technicians in higher education and research across the UK.

She continued: “The role that technicians do, usually behind the scenes, are vital in ensuring the success of our universities and research institutes, providing academic, research and student colleagues with the essential technical expertise that they need to enable their research and teaching. It is essential that we highlight and recognise their contributions, and the Papin Prizes offers a prestigious opportunity to do that.”

The closing date for applications is 31 January 2019.

The winners will be announced at the Higher Education Technicians Summit (HETS 2019) on 25 June, an event sponsored by Midlands Innovation, which is a partnership of eight universities – Aston, Birmingham, Cranfield, Keele, Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham and Warwick, in partnership with the Science Council.
