Loughborough becomes the first UK university to showcase external student reviews

Loughborough has become the first university in the UK to feature authentic student reviews on its website.

Working with the StudentCrowd, an independent student review service, Loughborough has set up a direct feed to pull through in real time ratings and comments about the University from its site.

The reviews feature on a dedicated Loughborough University webpage, which also links out to other review sites, making it easy for potential students to see what others think about Loughborough.

The University wants to ensure those thinking of coming to the University get honest and authentic feedback on life at the campus.

Speaking about the initiative Emma Leech, the University’s Director of Marketing and Advancement, said: “We’ve worked hard to be authentic in what we say and the content we create and share. Introducing independent student reviews to our website was the next logical step.

“We are really proud to be the first University to work with StudentCrowd to share independent reviews. We aren’t afraid to hear what our students have to say about us and firmly believe they are our best advocates. Equally if they have issues to raise about Loughborough we want to hear them too, so we can ensure we are always improving.”

Paul Humphreys, Founder of the StudentCrowd said: “In 2017, 92% of applicants told UCAS that student reviews were important to their firm reply choice. Loughborough University clearly noticed the importance of independent reviews to students.

“I was delighted to supply review data to power this new element on the Loughborough website. I hope other universities can follow suit and put an end to cherry-picked student quotes.”
