Dr Kathryn Brown, Lecturer in Art History and Visual Culture, will travel to the United Arab Emirates to deliver ‘Making History: Museums and Markets in a Globalized Art World’ as part of a series of talks organised to coincide with the annual Abu Dhabi Art Fair

The fair, now in its 10th year, is the culmination of a year-long programme of art and attracts over 20,000 visitors.

Against the background of an increasingly globalized art world, Dr Brown will debate the relationship between the museum and the art market. She will argue that museum culture has reached a tipping point and that urgent attention needs to be paid to the role of curatorial independence.

Three days of talks will span 14-17 November and take place at the arts and culture centre, Manarat Al Saadiyat.
