University to host Sexual Violence in Higher Education Conference

Loughborough University is hosting a conference next week that discusses the issue of sexual violence in Higher Education.

The symposium on Monday 19 March will explore topics such as victim-blaming culture, online and anonymous reporting processes, and collaborative working with statutory and voluntary agencies.

The ‘Sexual Violence in Higher Education Conference’ aims to provide a place for professionals working in the field to share best practice and their ideas.

It will feature contributions from a number of keynote speakers that work in the area of sexual violence and there will be a networking opportunity.

Dr Manuel Alonso, Director of Student Services, commented: “The conference will provide an important opportunity for UK Institutions to review and discuss this issue and come together to share best working practices.

“We all want to create the most appropriate responses for the students affected and reflect upon innovative ways to change attitudes and behaviour. As a University, we are delighted to provide a forum in which to do this.”

The conference is part of the University’s successful bid for HEFCE Catalyst Funding in March 2017.

Eighty delegates are expected to attend the event which will take place at Burleigh Court.
