Spit Happens campaign wins two national awards

Spit Happens, the record-breaking event held at the University last year to increase the number of stem cell donors to the Anthony Nolan register, scooped two more national awards last night (6th June 2018).

It won the Education Campaign and Best Event awards at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence awards, and was also singled out for a Mark of Excellence honour in the Corporate Social Responsibility Campaign.

Spit Happens was a collaborative event between the University, Students’ Union, Anthony Nolan and the Rik Basra Leukaemia Campaign. A total of 2,056 donors joined the Anthony Nolan register during the one-day, campus-based event in March 2017.

This is the latest in a long line of awards for the campaign. It has been named Best Event at CIPR Pride Awards (Midlands); Best Multi-Channel Campaign at the Print, Design & Marketing Awards; Best Event for Member/Stakeholder Audience from the Institute of Internal Communications, and Internal Communication Campaign of the Year at the PRCA DARE Awards (Midlands). It also won the Anthony Nolan Supporters Award for Recruiter of the Year.
