Loughborough PhD student named top 10 ‘ones to watch’ in STEM

An engineering PhD student has placed top 10 in the national WISE Award’s ‘Ones to Watch’, which celebrates women under 25 working to change the image of women in STEM.

Jennifer Glover was recognised for the impact she has had at Loughborough, where, in addition to her studies, she served as chair of Loughborough’s Women’s Engineering Society (WES). She has also held several roles in the national WES group – starting as the first chair of the University Groups Board before being promoted to Student Liaison Officer and nominated for the Young Members Board and council.

Jennifer also delivers talks to schools to inform and inspire the next generation and has helped to implement the training of 120 female students as STEM ambassadors.

Furthermore, she sits on the Athena Swan committee at the University, which aims to encourage and advance the careers of women.

Jennifer commented: “I am really grateful to have been recognised as part of the WISE Ones to Watch top 10.

“The WISE awards are a fantastic celebration of women and gender equality work within science and engineering, and I feel privileged to be shortlisted amongst such inspirational people. Promotion of STEM and diversity is important to me, and I am even more motivated to make engineering a leader in inclusivity of all kinds.”
