A day in the life of a Doctoral Researcher…

The Doctoral College invites all University and Students’ Union staff to a half-day event that aims to decipher the doctoral experience.

Loughborough University is home to almost 1,400 Doctoral Researchers that are at various stages in their careers and based in all academic Schools.

Despite the large number, the doctoral journey is not always well understood by those who support or represent these students, especially with regards to the nature of research, the contributions Doctoral Researchers make and the challenges they may face.

Each year the Doctoral College hosts ‘A day in the life of a Doctoral Researcher’ – a demystifying event for those who want to know more.

This year’s event will take place on Tuesday 4 September at the Graduate House (Angela Marmont Building) from 9.30am until 12.30pm.

It will feature a series of talks by current Doctoral Researchers and Doctoral College staff and there will be plenty of opportunities for attendees to have their questions answered.

Dr Katryna Kalawsky, from the Doctoral College, commented: “A day in the life of a Doctoral Researcher is a highly informative and interactive event.

“The aim of the event is to encourage and empower attendees who support or represent Loughborough students to consider ways in which they can make their provision more inclusive and tailored (where appropriate) for Doctoral Researchers.”
