Loughborough climbs to seventh in national ranking of 131 universities

Loughborough has been ranked seventh nationally in The Complete University Guide 2019 – three places higher than last year – and remains the highest ranked university in the Midlands, ahead of over 30 other institutions.

‌The league table, published today (Wednesday 25 April), is based on ten measures: Student Satisfaction; Research Quality; Research Intensity; Entry Standards; Student: Staff Ratio; Spending on Academic Services; Spending on Student Facilities; Good Honours Degrees; Graduate Prospects and Completion. It includes 131 institutions.

In separate listings covering 70 subjects, Loughborough appears in the top ten for 14 of the 28 subjects it teaches, coming first in Building and Librarianship and Information Management.

Speaking about the 2019 guide Professor Robert Allison, Loughborough’s Vice-Chancellor, said: “Yet again Loughborough has shown that it is one of the very best universities in the country – and top in the region.

“Our move up of three places to seventh in the UK is testament to the world leading research our academics carry out; the excellent teaching provided by our staff; our close links with industry; and the unique partnership we enjoy with the Students’ Union. By bringing all these things together across our two campuses we ensure every one of our students gets the very best out of their university years.”

This seventh place ranking comes just weeks after Loughborough was named the best in the country for its student experience by the Times Higher Education (THE) and University of the Year in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2018.

The top ten universities in The UK Complete University Guide 2019 are:

  1. Cambridge
